De Bacco
At the beginning of the 20th century viticulture was a great source of livelihood for the Feltrine families, and the De Bacco company seized the moment.
Thanks to the tenacity of De Bacco, the ancient native varieties Pavana, Gata and Bianchetta Fonzasina have reached the present day. Pietro De Bacco, grandfather of the current owners of the company Marco and Valentina De Bacco, made a strong contribution to the technological renewal of winemaking. Together with his sons Domenico and Luigino, he understood the extraordinary potential of these local vines, pushing them towards modern forms of transformation. With them, in fact, the bottle refermentation of the Bianchetta and the red vinification of Pavana and Gata begin.
The strength of the company de bacco is the great manual effort that Marco and Valentina put into cultivating the vineyards. The agronomic practices are all carried out by hand. The yields per hectare are very limited, from 30 to 80 quintals. Focusing on the quality of production, avoiding the exasperated exploitation of the soil while preserving its natural vitality. The company puts into practice integrated defense techniques, minimizing the necessary treatments. The harvest is manual in box with selection of bunches in the vineyard, bringing only the best grapes in the cellar. The vinifications are conducted in a natural way with a wise and careful temperature control. The great acidity, typical of our grapes, allows us to limit the use of sulphites to a minimum, obtaining a genuine product that respects tradition.
