Manzone Giovanni
Manzone Giovanni
The Piedmontese Langa has a very significant reality in its name. Giovanni Manzone father and Mauro son, winemaker of the fourth generation and winemaker in their company present us with wines produced in their Fortunata Terra, and that open to the world of wine since 1925. Fortunata Terra because it encloses in its guts millennia of geological mutations that today are manforte for the creation of grapes and wines of impeccable quality. Mauro Manzone often remembers that the strength of the finesse and longevity of his wines is in the mix of those parcels of land that he is cultivating. The geography shows us the topographical position of the company, in a high hill difficult to cultivate, well exposed to south south-east. In Monforte d'Alba the Manzone is identified with long-lived Barolo wines of finesse and important drinkability.
The company holds three Crus in the area between Serralunga d’Alba, Castiglione Folletto, Monforte d'Alba.
The Castelletto di Serralunga Cru represents a more austere experience than Barolo with important tannins. Gramolere, the historic Cru of the family such as the Vigna Barolo Gramolere Riserva, which I remembered as Bussia Baroli, less color and very accessible to flavor. Bricat, the smallest plot of Fortunata Terra purchased in 1989, on which there are 55-year-old vines and the presence of a rare nebbiolo rosé clone. Earth that is characterized by a strong presence of clay. Bricat is a mix of elegance and longevity and preserves the style of traditional wines. Manzoni wines with simple communicability, characteristically have a high content of polyphenols and a moderate content of anthocyanins, appearing in the glass with a discharged, ruby red color. Sobriety distinguishes the winery, oenological operations, the preservability of the wines follow the normal and physiological course of time, the bottles produced maintain the status being able to transmit vibrant emotions in the glass.
