The Geological Convergence and Altitude of PATRICIA Pinot Noir
The PATRICIA Pinot Noir DOC expresses the elegance of the Bourgogne variety through the careful selection and blending of three specific sub-zones cultivated by Cantina Girlan. The vineyards are situated at an altitude ranging between 380 and 530 meters above sea level, a hillside belt ideal for preserving the aromatic bouquet of the varietal. The wine's architecture benefits from a dual pedoclimatic matrix: morainic deposits resting on volcanic porphyry rock in the Oltradige district on one side, and west-facing calcareous-clayey soils typical of Bassa Atesina on the other. This combination constitutes the agronomic foundation for a red wine of great precision and regional character.
Cellar Protocol: Gravity-Fed Vinification and Large Oak Cask Aging
The processing of the 2024 vintage applies rigorous technical criteria aimed at protecting the delicate extractive nature of Pinot Noir. The manual harvest is performed using small bins to protect cluster integrity during transport. Following destemming, the must is transferred by gravity into stainless steel tanks, where the red skin-contact vinification cycle takes place for 12 to 15 days, excluding invasive mechanical intervention. Upon completion of malolactic fermentation, the wine undergoes a 12-month aging path in large 50-hectoliter oak casks, followed by an additional 6 months of stabilization in glass before its definitive release onto the market.
Sensory Profile of PATRICIA Trentino Alto Adige red wine
The interaction between volcanic and limestone slopes, combined with maturation in large neutral oak, outlines an organoleptic framework of sharp expressive clarity.
- Blend and Classification: 100% Pinot Noir / Alto Adige DOC.
- Analytical Data (2024 Vintage): Alcohol Content: 13.50% Vol. / Aging: 12 months in 50 hl casks and 6 months in the bottle.
- Visual Assessment: Limpid and brilliant ruby red hue, characterized by a typical and refined chromatic transparency consistent with the alpine varietal.
- Olfactory Framework: Intense, clean, and fragrant bouquet. The nose reveals consistent scents of fresh small red fruits, showcasing distinct notes of cherry, marasca cherry, and wild raspberry.
- Palate Characteristics: The tasting reveals a dry, taut profile of extraordinary responsiveness. The progression displays a velvety and fine texture, supported by a pleasant acidic backbone that guides the pour toward a remarkably savory and persistent finish.
Service Guidelines and Gastronomic Pairings
The agility of the body and the smoothness of the tannic texture of this Pinot Noir determine outstanding versatility alongside complex yet elegant dishes.
- Stable Pairings: It pairs excellently with a wide variety of traditional Italian first courses, pasta with meat sauces, structured risottos, and main courses based on roasted white meats or premium poultry.
- Serving Method: To promote the development of the aromatic bouquet and enhance the tension of the pour, a serving temperature of 14 - 16°C is recommended.
Evolutionary Potential and Storage
The PATRICIA displays excellent harmony from its youth, yet possesses an acidic heritage that allows it to develop positively in the bottle for five to seven years. For proper tertiary maturation, horizontal bottle storage is recommended in a dark environment at a constant temperature.
