Why the winemaker recommends Brunello di Montalcino 2020 Pinino
Classic elegance of Sangiovese Grosso, which achieves exceptional harmony thanks to careful selection and vinification. The wine is the result of a skillful blend of complementary plots, where the Pinino vineyard (with galestro and alberese) provides thrust, verticality, and spiciness, while the Canchi vineyard (with clay and silt) contributes pulp, roundness, and softness. The 2020 vintage was particularly balanced, with September temperature swings that aligned the technical and phenolic ripeness, resulting in an intense aromatic profile and a balanced structure, ideal for great longevity.
Wine Characteristics
The 2020 Pinino Brunello di Montalcino presents itself with an intense and luminous ruby color. The nose is characterized by clear aromas of blackberry and plum on a pleasant spicy background, with a clean and markedly territorial progression. On the palate, it is full and rounded, with a velvety texture and fine tannins, leading to a harmonious and persistent finish.
Vinification involves fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature with a long maceration on the skins for 18–25 days. The wine ages for at least 30 months in oak barrels and barriques to ensure maximum tannic integration and perfect aromatic definition. Previous vintages have received excellent awards (for example, Robert Parker 94/100 for the 2019 vintage), a testament to its superior quality.
Recommended pairings
This Brunello pairs perfectly with full-bodied dishes:
Red Meats and Game: Ideal with sirloin steak, wild boar stew, or roast duck.
Pork: Excellent with flavorful dishes such as herb-flavored pork loin or glazed ribs.
Cheese: It pairs superbly with aged Tuscan pecorino and medium- to long-aged toma cheeses.
We recommend serving this Brunello at a temperature of 18–20 °C in a large balloon glass and decanting for about 60 minutes before serving to unfold the spicy notes and fully enhance its bouquet.
