Why the winemaker recommends Albare
Because it is a Soave Cru born from a technical insight that is as simple as it is brilliant: "Double Reasoned Ripening," or cane cutting. In practice, a partial cut is made to the cane supporting the grape clusters: the section closest to the main vine continues to ripen, while the outer section begins to wither. The result is Garganega grapes with two distinct levels of ripeness—one juicier and the other more concentrated—which combine to create a wine of surprising aromatic complexity without losing the grape variety's characteristic freshness. The grapes come from the Albare vineyard—owned by the Portinari family since the early 20th century—located on the plains in clay-rich alluvial soil and trained using the alternating simple pergoletta system. White vinification takes place at controlled temperatures in steel tanks.
Characteristics of this Soave DOC white wine
It presents an intense straw-yellow color. On the nose, it is refined and highly expressive, offering aromas of almond, dried fruit, white flowers, fresh fruit, Golden Delicious apple, and a delicate touch of honey. On the palate, freshness and softness are perfectly balanced, leading to a long, satisfying finish. It can be enjoyed young, but it truly shines after a few years of aging, provided it is stored in a cool environment at a constant temperature.
Discover the winery's other Cru as well—the Soave Classico Superiore Ronchetto—which offers distinct characteristics thanks to its hillside volcanic soil.
Recommended pairings for Soave Albare
Perfect as an aperitif, it elegantly complements pasta and rice dishes, white meats, fish, shellfish, salads, and egg dishes. It also pairs beautifully with crustaceans and cheeses, especially aged varieties.
