Why the winemaker recommends Ronchetto
It originates from a cru that tells the story of a unique terroir: the Ronchetto vineyard. Owned by the Portinari family since the early 20th century, it is situated on a hillside—approximately 150 meters above sea level—with a southern exposure and volcanic soil. Here, Umberto Portinari—who began personally cultivating the vineyards in the 1980s—created a Soave Classico Superiore with a distinctive character. The vines are trained using the double pergoletta system, and the wine is produced primarily from Garganega grapes, with a small percentage of Chardonnay. White winemaking takes place at controlled temperatures in steel tanks to preserve the grape variety's freshness and aromatic purity.
Characteristics of Soave Classico Superiore white wine
It presents a yellow color with golden highlights. The nose is refined, intense, and expansive, featuring fruity notes and floral tones. On the palate, it is savory, fresh, and smooth—a wine that fully expresses the elegance and complexity of its volcanic terroir. It can be enjoyed young but is at its best after a few years of aging, provided it is stored in a cool environment at a constant temperature.
Recommended pairings for Soave Classico Superiore
Perfect as an aperitif, it elegantly accompanies pasta and rice dishes, white meats, fish, shellfish, and egg-based dishes.
