Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion

Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion is a veritable treasure trove of history, nature, and innovation nestled within the city limits of Bordeaux. Founded in 1584, the domaine was born from the visionary gift of Jean de Pontac, Lord of Haut-Brion, to the Carmelite Order. For nearly two centuries, the monks have guarded this terroir with devotion, combining spirituality and viticulture in a rare and precious synthesis.

Protected by centuries-old walls, the vineyard today extends over 10 hectares divided between gravel, sand, and clay soils, cultivated with an unusual yet distinctive blend: Merlot (41%), Cabernet Franc (39%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%). This composition, combined with a mild urban microclimate influenced by the Peugue stream, yields elegant, complex wines with unique character.

In 2016, the domaine inaugurated a new chai designed by Philippe Starck, a symbol of a cutting-edge winemaking vision. An architectural work of art, minimalist and poetic, it blends tradition and modernity. Here, vinification takes place in wooden, stainless steel, and concrete vats, while the barrel aging takes place in the heart of the structure, surrounded by water and immersed in tranquility.

Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion is more than a great wine: it is a sensory experience that combines heritage, innovation, and profound harmony with nature.
