Why the winemaker recommends Lunae Vermentino Nero Liguria di Levante IGT 2023
In Liguria you expect Vermentino vinified in red, but no, Vermentino Nero is an indigenous and rare vine; good, sweet and pleasant. This pure Vermentino Nero is very interesting, an ancient native vine rediscovered and cultivated in the Colli di Luni, aged for 6 months in large barrels. Long-lived wine, good to have a few extra cases parked in the cellar.
Characteristics of Lunae Vermentino Nero wine
Red wine from black Vermentino, little known, typical of the lower Lunigiana area. Ruby red in color with purple reflections, it is a product that seeks to carve out a role for itself among the most popular and well-known Tuscan products. The nose gives off notes of red berries and black cherries, juniper and medicinal herbs. On the palate there are clayey and earthy hints, with spicy hints, mainly of carob and cloves. Strong and rounded taste, not very accentuated persistence.
Recommended pairings for this Liguria di Levante IGT red wine
The Vermentino Etichetta Nera accompanies crostini with Colonnata lard; ligure rabbit.
Uncork the Vermentino Nero di Lunae and serve at a temperature of 15° - 16°C in a large Tulipano.
