Why the winemaker recommends Tenuta Poggio al Tufo Vermentino Toscana
Vermentino Toscana IGT Bianco 12.5% is becoming the most used white grape in Maremma and this, fortunately, is a well-made wine. Good acidity and persistence, pleasant if drunk very cold. The wine that tells a story for several hours.
Characteristics of Tommasi Tenuta Poggio al Tufo Vermentino wine
Tommasi presents the Vermentino Toscana IGT from the Poggio al Tufo estate in Pitigliano. Excellent quality/price ratio, a fairly well-built but pleasant and balanced Tuscan Vermentino wine. Pale straw yellow with greenish reflections, aromas of white flowers, chamomile flowers emerge on the nose, then fruity aromas of unripe banana, green apple, apricot, herbaceous hints of hay and spicy notes of green pepper. In the mouth, medium-bodied, dry, very tasty with the right acidity, mineral, confirming all the olfactory sensations with a sweet almond aftertaste. Persistent finish on vegetal notes.
Recommended pairings for this Toscana IGT white wine
Vermentino Poggio al Tufo is ideal with spaghetti with tuna and cherry tomatoes. Perfect as an aperitif, even with light seafood dishes (clams in white wine), grilled white fish and summer green salads with prawns or young cheeses (mozzarella or soft goat's cheese)
Uncork and serve at a temperature of 10 - 12°C in a Tulipano glass.
