Bricco dei Guazzi
Bricco dei Guazzi
The symphony in silence, whose director is wine. This is how we could describe the landscape of Olivola Borgo from the 1400s in Monferrato, where the art of making wine is acquired from the past and is constantly updated without being content with repeating it. And it is precisely here that in 2014 UNESCO recognized the value of World Heritage to the winegrowing landscapes of Monferrato. The geographical position is breathtaking, in the background the Monviso, a high hill area ‘’ bric ’’ on which the vineyards master and make an original design.
In this artistic context there is the Bricco dei Guazzi with thirty-five hectares of vineyards, where in the rows of a parcel we find the native Albarosa, the clone that in 1938 was the object of the study of Dr. Dal Masso, ampelographer in the Asti area. He realized that he could cross two clones that of Nebbiolo with Barbera, bringing together the characteristics of both, he managed to overcome some critical aspects that still affect the wine of each one today. The Albarossa del Bricco dei Guazzi, since 1990, has enjoyed the expectations already established at the beginning of the last century, recognized by the world and by industry guides. Believing in wine for the Bricco dei Guazzi involves different actions inherent in the soul of man, the conservation and maintenance of native varieties, to discover and raise their potential. Barbera or Barbera, Gavi DOCG, Chardonnay, La Presidenta and Albarossa are simply the natural expression of these places.
The cellar of the Bricco dei Guazzi has inherited from time the constructions used for the process of processing the grapes, constantly making upgrades until today. All of them live and are in use or in part, like the concrete tanks that stand alongside the modern and technological stainless steel tanks. The implementation of technologies of the past with the new has done nothing but give momentum and added value to wines that remain sober, elegant and aristocratic. Therefore, every age has made available the best of its winemaking art, which is wisely used and transformed into five wines of great depth.
