Why I suggest Barbera d’Asti DOCG 2021
The vineyards of Monferrato are attributed the UNESCO World Heritage Value. The geographical position is breathtaking, in the background Monviso, an area of high hill '' bric '' on which the vineyards master and make it an original design.
In this artistic context, the Bricco dei Guazzi with thirty-five hectares of vineyards meets the autochthonous clone studied by Dr. Dal Masso, an ampelographer in the Asti area. He sensed that he could cross two clones that of Barbera and Nebbiolo, grouping the characteristics of both, he managed to overcome some critical aspects that are still reflected today in the wine of each.
Sommelier:
This Barbera is very interesting, it stands out from the usual angular wines of the typology. To the intense dark red glass, almost black. After an hour, a large olfactory picture is released, lots of ripe red fruit, plum, berries, raisins, a decidedly vinous imprint. They enrich a marked spiciness, notes of leather and undergrowth, animal and wild hints, as well as blood / ferrous. On the palate it is warm, dry, round, balanced in its soft and tannic components. Long finish.
Suggested pairings:
Barbera d’Asti DOCG 2021 Bricco dei Guazzi wine throughout the meal: with red meats and vegetable first courses with bacon and croutons; pork in cabbage stew; Horse meat chops better if spicy; Donkey stew, good with the Neapolitan casatiello.
Uncork Barbera d’Asti DOCG Bricco dei Guazzi and decant before serving at 16-18 ° C in a Ballon glass.
