Two vines that should be re-evaluated, vinified here to create a medium-structured white but with a very pleasant drink and a grand finish; the side of Etna that has always been considered "wrong" is making its way, also thanks to wineries such as Masseria Setteporte.

Characteristics of Catarratto and Caricante wines:

Etna Bianco DOC 2023 Masseria Setteporte, one of my favorites comes from a single small vineyard (one hectare) on the southern slope at 700/800m. asl. Light straw yellow calyx. Seductive nose: opens floral then hints of citrus and white fruit. It closes with mineral notes and aromatic herbs. Fresh, energetic, very savory, medium-bodied, with a clean finish with mineral notes that return on the aftertaste.

Recommended pairings with Catarratto Caricante white wine

pasta and chickpeas; accompanying first and second courses of elaborate fish; side dishes of sautéed mushrooms: cheeses.
