Why Tornatore's Etna Rosso DOC "Pietrarizzo"
Tornatore's Pietrarizzo Etna Rosso DOC 2021 is not just a wine, but the authentic expression of an "extreme" and fascinating territory: the slopes of Mount Etna. Made from 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes, carefully cultivated in the historic Contrada Pietrarizzo in Castiglione di Sicilia, this wine embodies the centuries-old tradition of the Tornatore family, who have dedicated themselves to viticulture with passion and respect for the land since 1865.
Characteristics and Tasting Notes
At first glance, it captivates with its transparent, not overly deep, ruby red color, reflecting its elegance. On the nose, it releases a fragrant bouquet of red fruits, Mediterranean herbs, and a hint of spice, with a distinct minerality that speaks of its volcanic origins. On the palate, it is sincere and full-bodied, but never heavy. Its personality is driven by lively tannins and a perfect balance between freshness and savory flavors, making it satisfying and persistent.
Versatile pairings and serving suggestions
Thanks to its versatility, this wine pairs perfectly with the rich flavors of Mediterranean cuisine. It is ideal with meat-based pasta dishes, such as classic pasta all'amatriciana or tortelli, and pairs beautifully with main courses like grilled lamb chops or sausage in sauce. It also pairs well with aged sheep's milk cheeses and artisanal cured meats.
To best savor it, we recommend uncorking the bottle and letting it air for about an hour before serving. The ideal serving temperature is between 16 and 18°C, in a large balloon glass, to allow its bouquet to fully express itself.
