Why the winemaker recommends La Carlina Barolo from the Municipality of Grinzane Cavour
Wine coming from a small vineyard in Grinzane Cavour with a high percentage of Nebbiolo clone grapes. Overall small estate less than 2 hectares. Bold with high alcohol and mature notes but also rustic tannic structure. However no oak tannins, due to the rigorous traditional winemaking in barrels. Accessible now but certainly better in a decade.
Characteristics of Barolo Grinzane Cavour La Carlina
A promising young man, already accessible to those who love a flamboyant tannic structure. The nose is great but shy. Sandy minerals, tar, a hint of raspberry, rose, rosehip, pink pepper and a very elegant barrel character. The rather high alcohol content enhances some notes. A first class Barolo
Recommended pairings with Barolo DOCG wine
Suitable for a hearty meal, best with grilled fillet and radicchio.
Uncork the Grinzane Cavour Barolo 2019 La Carlina and decant before serving at a temperature of 16 - 18°C, in a large Ballon glass.
