Château Palmer 2017 – Margaux AOC | 3rd Grand Cru Classé
Château Palmer 2017 is a masterpiece of balance and precision, born from a year marked by climatic challenges and transformed into an extraordinary expression of the terroir thanks to the mastery of the estate and the natural protection afforded by its proximity to the Gironde estuary.
Classified as a 3rd Grand Cru Classé since 1855, Château Palmer is one of the icons of the Margaux appellation, renowned for its unique style, velvety structure, and the consistent quality of its vintages. Since 2014, the vineyard has been entirely biodynamically managed, a choice reflected in the purity and complexity of each individual wine.
The 2017 Vintage: Elegance Protected by the River
After a mild winter and early vegetative recovery, the season was marked by a severe frost between April 27th and 28th. However, the vineyards' strategic location near the river protected Château Palmer from the worst damage, preserving the vintage's quality. Spring and summer followed, alternating rain and sunshine, allowing for a slow and even ripening. The harvest took place between September 13th and October 5th, with the grapes picked at their optimal ripening point.
Merlot 54%, Cabernet Sauvignon 42%, and Petit Verdot 4%
Respect for the soil, meticulous knowledge of each parcel, and an artisanal approach in the cellar have created a wine with a strong and authentic identity. Careful vinification has preserved the integrity of the aromas and the quality of the tannins, fully expressing the terroir's potential.
Château Palmer 2017 embodies the balance and refinement of the finest Margaux. It displays a deep garnet color, while the nose unleashes a complex bouquet of ripe red fruits, fine spices, toasted bread, and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is deep and harmonious, with perfectly integrated silky tannins and a precise structure that promises a long evolution in the bottle. The finish is elegant and persistent, without excess, yet full of nobility and intensity.
