Rivera Primitivo Salento IGT 2024
Rivera's Primitivo Salento IGT is a modern and dynamic interpretation of one of Puglia's most celebrated grape varieties. The winery has chosen to craft this great classic in a fresh and flowing style, focusing on the integrity of the fruit and a vinification process that enhances its natural aromatic richness, avoiding the excessive extraction typical of many industrial interpretations.
The grapes, 100% Primitivo, come from the province of Taranto, grown on calcareous-sandy soils. Harvest takes place in the last week of August to preserve the sugar balance. Vinification involves 8-9 days of maceration in stainless steel at 28°C. The wine ages for 9 months in glass-lined concrete tanks, a fundamental technical choice to preserve the varietal character and fragrance of the black fruit.
Tasting Notes and Sensory Profile
- Abv: 14.00% Vol.
- Appearance: Deep purple red, youthful and brilliant.
- Aroma: Fresh and markedly fruity bouquet, with notes of blackberry and small black fruits.
- On the Palate: Rich and fruity, it stands out for its exceptional smoothness. It is a wine with great balance, without heaviness, inviting to drink thanks to a well-integrated tannic structure and a pleasant freshness.
Recommended Pairings and Serving Suggestion
Thanks to its modern approach and its "gastronomic" nature, this Primitivo lends itself to multiple pairings:
- First Courses: Ideal with flavorful Mediterranean first courses, such as orecchiette with fresh sauce or pasta timbales.
- Meat and Cheese: It pairs perfectly with grilled meats and medium-aged cheeses.
- Serving Suggestion: To appreciate its freshness and fruity profile, we recommend serving it at a temperature of 16 - 18°C in medium-sized glasses.
The Rivera Winery
The Cantine Rivera is a cornerstone of Apulian viticulture. While historically tied to the Castel del Monte area (Andria), their work of selection and enhancement extends to the region's finest areas, bringing the same rigorous execution and attention to grape purity to every bottle, whether DOCG or IGT.
