Why the Winemaker Recommends Tommasi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2018
The Tommasi Winery, meticulously cared for down to the last detail, fully reflects the history of quality Veneto red wine with its Amarone. It's simply the Ferrari of Amarones. The Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta grapes come from estate-owned vineyards located in the historic Valpolicella Classica area. The manual harvest is followed by a rigorous drying process in the drying room for approximately three months. The vinification process involves slow fermentation, followed by three years of aging in large Slavonian oak barrels, essential for ensuring the product's stability, elegance, and longevity.
Characteristics of Tommasi Amarone
Amarone Classico represents the ultimate expression of the Tommasi family's identity, a historic benchmark in Valpolicella. This wine embodies the perfect combination of traditional rigor and consistent stylistic precision, the result of expert agronomic and oenological management.
On the palate, it displays a deep ruby red color, characterized by garnet highlights of great intensity and consistency. The bouquet is complex, broad, and refined, with distinct notes of black cherry in alcohol, ripe plum, and berry jam.
As it ages, it reveals an elegant tertiary finish, featuring sweet spices, cocoa, blond tobacco, and a light balsamic hint. On the palate, it is structured, enveloping, and extraordinarily harmonious.
The tannic texture is dense and silky, perfectly balanced by a lively freshness that supports the significant alcohol content. The finish is persistent and clean, with consistent returns of dark fruit and spice.
