Rivera Rupicolo Castel del Monte DOC 2024
Rivera's Castel del Monte DOC "Rupicolo" aims to redefine the concept of an everyday red with a profile based on freshness and immediate pleasure on the palate. The historic De Corato family cellars offer a reading of the Murgia region without excessive opulence, focusing on a dynamic, transversal expression. This contemporary approach gives rise to an exceptionally agile red wine, ideal for those seeking a blend of Apulian native grapes that combines typical youthful strength with great gastronomic versatility.
The vineyards are located in the municipality of Andria at approximately 200 meters above sea level, where the vines (partly trained using the pergola system and partly spurred cordon) sink their roots into deep tuff and limestone soils. The blend expertly combines 40% Nero di Troia, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 50% other local native varieties. The grapes are harvested at different times based on ripeness, between the first week of September and the first week of October. The winery protocol involves maceration for 6-7 days in stainless steel tanks at 24°C, followed by aging for 12 months in glass-lined concrete tanks for malolactic fermentation. This process guarantees an impeccably balanced Rivera Rupicolo wine.
