Why the winemaker recommends Avignonesi 50 & 50 Toscana IGT2019

Definitely a difficult blend but very apt. Very large bottle resulting from the union between two of the best wineries in their respective areas: Capannelle di Gaiole in Chianti and Avignonesi di Montepulciano. What comes out is a real bomb! We can discuss the price but after tasting several vintages, I can say that there is nothing to say about that either! Wine that takes all the best of Sangiovese and Merlot in all olfactory and gustatory nuances! Seeing is believing!

Characteristics of the 50 & 50 Avignonesi wine

The 50% and 50% Sangiovese Merlot of Avignonesi opens on the nose with aromas of redcurrant jam, macerated cherry, rose petals, then hints of undergrowth and balsamic, sandalwood and cedar, light vegetal traces, myrtle, leaf green tea, bergamot, pistachio and licorice. In the mouth the entry is explosive in terms of flavor and elegance, dynamic, with great vitality, with aristocratic tannins. Pulpy, on the persistent finish it offers hints of cocoa powder.

Recommended pairings for this Supertuscan red wine

With the Sangiovese and Merlot 50 & 50 Vino Rosso Toscana IGT 2019 Avignonesi, we find that Tuscan cuisine has the characteristics for a good food and wine partnership. The meeting of flavors with this wine is well suited to pairings with semi-mature pecorino di Pienza, legume soups with pig's head, hare in earthenware, morsels of ostrich in milk.

Uncork 50 & 50 Avignonesi & Capannelle Rosso Toscana IGT 2019 and decant before serving at a temperature between 16 - 18 °C in a large Ballon glass
