Why the winemaker recommends Malvirà Boiolo Barolo DOCG 2013
Grapes coming from the Boiolo hill of La Morra. The only difference compared to Malvirà Roero Trinità is the position of the grapes, La Morra areas at higher altitudes than the Barolo average, this gives the wine, in addition to the more classic jam notes, more pronounced spicy and earthy hints. In the mouth the fruit has an excellent concentration, the tannin is still coarse. He has a long road ahead! I was blown away by this wine. It is certainly the epitome of a full-bodied, well-balanced and well-structured red. There is no lack of acidity and tannins which form the backdrop to ripe red fruits. He's 13 and could easily stay another 13 (and more). It was smooth straight out of the bottle, practically breathless except for the swirl in the glass. Exceptional!
Characteristics of the Boiolo Barolo Piemonte red wine from Malvirà
At the first taste of Boiolo Barolo you are impressed. The nose varies with each sniff, first blackberries and leather, then gunpowder and smoke then cedar and spices. On the palate it is medium bodied with just the right amount of chewy tannins, good acidity blended with flavors of cherry, plum and blackberry yet hints of leather, earth and chocolate. The persistent finish features aniseed, balsamic and subtly mentholated notes. My kind of crazy Barolo.
Recommended pairings for Barolo DOCG 2013 wine
For this Nebbiolo Baiolo I suggest pairing it with risottos and cheeses; the carbonara; turnip greens stew; eggplant parmigiana.
Uncork and decant before serving the Nebbiolo at a temperature of 18 - 20°C in a large glass.
