Why the winemaker recommends Tenuta Asinara Cayenna SubMariner Vermentino di Sardegna DOC
A Vermentino with an unusual processing method, the bunches are “washed” in sea water and this allows for a different concentration of flavors and aromas. The immersion of the grapes in the sea after harvesting (as the Romans did), leaves a light salinity then minerality and aromas are unleashed. Iodine, fruity and slightly exotic notes all linked by a unique flavor never experienced in a Sardinian white. A truly interesting production story!
Characteristics of Vermentino Cayenna di Asinara
There are wines that break stereotypes and these wines become a real discovery for you, this is the type of experience that wine lovers are looking for. Can a traditional Sardinian Vermentino be salty, glycerinous and sweetly fruity at the same time? Tenuta Asinara has revived the ancient Roman tradition of immersing the freshly picked grapes in baskets in sea water. Subtle aromas of white flowers, with notes of ripe white fruit and iodine, alternating with light spicy notes.
