Terroir and Vineyard Sourcing of Barbera d’Alba DOC
The Barbera d’Alba DOC from Cordero di Montezemolo embodies the true historical evolution and revival of a signature variety within the Langhe region. Once regarded solely as a rustic everyday pour, Barbera underwent a profound quality renaissance in the early 1990s, earning international acclaim and becoming a benchmark red of the Piedmontese landscape. The estate's production focus targets natural fruit balance and varietal purity, combining the distinct attributes of proprietary plots into a well-rounded, crisp, and highly accessible glass tailored for every palate.
Technical Cellar Notes: Controlled Fermentation and Brief Oak Rest
This wine is crafted from a calculated blend of all estate-owned Barbera vineyards in La Morra, showcasing diverse vine ages, elevations, and soil compositions. Technical management enforces a parcellized hand-harvesting schedule to lock in optimal phenolic ripeness across individual plots. In the cellar, alcoholic fermentation is managed inside temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to safeguard primary fruit integrity. Following racking, the wine undergoes a brief 4-to-6-month maturation phase in oak casks, a measured step designed to stabilize the final structure and soften the polyphenol weave without altering the grape's natural, vibrant freshness prior to bottling.
