Description

Why the winemaker recommends Elvio Cogno Mandorlo Dolcetto d'Alba DOC 2023

The Mandorlo Dolcetto d'Alba DOC by Elvio Cogno was born in La Morra, in the heart of the Langhe, where the Cogno family has been cultivating grapes for generations, since 1936. This intense ruby red wine, with violet reflections, embodies the true essence of the Dolcetto and its territory.

Characteristics of the Dolcetto d'Alba il Mandorlo wine

The 100% Dolcetto grapes grow on marly-limestone soils at 380 meters above sea level, kissed by a unique climate that gives the wine unmistakable characteristics. The vinification takes place in steel with temperature control and automatic pumping over, followed by aging for 8 months in steel and 60 days on the yeasts. A further refinement of 6 months in the bottle completes the process, giving the wine elegance and complexity.

Pouring the Dolcetto d'Alba DOC Mandorlo into the glass, you will be fascinated by its intense ruby red color, with violet reflections that herald an explosion of aromas. On the nose, a rich and complex bouquet opens with notes of fresh black fruit, cherries and plums, intertwined with hints of almond and sweet spices. In the mouth, the wine conquers with its full body, balanced by vibrant acidity and elegant tannins. An enveloping sip that culminates in a long and persistent finish, an authentic expression of Dolcetto and its terroir.
