Schloss Englar Pinot Blanc Eppan-Berg Alto Adige DOC 2024
The purest identity of high-altitude white wines is captured in the Pinot Blanc Eppan-Berg by Schloss Englar, a label that highlights the extraordinary vocation of the Appiano Monte terraces. This wine is tailored for connoisseurs who seek vibrant freshness, aromatic precision, and seamless drinkability in the glass. Through sustainable viticulture respectful of the Alpine environment, the historic winery has transformed a great regional classic into a snappy and immediate liquid experience. The perfect marriage of calcareous soil and altitude gives this white wine a proud and recognizable character, far from structural heaviness and entirely focused on absolute expressive clarity, ideal for those who appreciate premium white wines.
Why the Winemaker Recommends Pinot Blanc Eppan-Berg
The estate recommends this specific expression of Pinot Blanc because it showcases a masterful balance between large wooden barrel fermentation and stainless steel. The grapes, hand-picked on steep slopes, are processed at controlled temperatures to preserve the most fragrant citrus and floral notes of the variety. The subsequent 7-month aging on the fine lees imparts aromatic stability and a silky structural softness, beautifully balancing the natural acidity of the wine. According to the winemaker, Eppan-Berg proves how the elegance of a mountain white can result in a clean, slender sip completely free from hot alcoholic heat.
Characteristics of the High-Altitude White Wine
This refined organic monovarietal expresses the very quintessence of mountain viticulture in the glass, elevating varietal traits to a superior level of definition. The wine's architecture is built upon 10-year-old vineyards trained in the Guyot system in Appiano Monte, located at an ideal altitude between 500 and 550 meters above sea level. In this exceptional terroir, characterized by a 35% slope and eastern exposure, the plants sink their roots into a soil composed of morainic deposits mixed with calcareous components. Every element works in harmony to define a clear sensory profile of unquestionable quality consistency, perfect for exploring through tasting notes analysis.

The Terroir and the Cool 2024 Vintage of Schloss Englar
The climate of the cool 2024 vintage beautifully enhanced the natural acidity and mineral drive of Pinot Blanc, requiring all the experience and absolute technical precision that bind the history of great Italian wines to the passion of local families. Production comes to life from a careful manual selection of grapes in two distinct passes between late August and early September. This is followed by a soft low-pressure pressing, with fermentation carried out half in large wooden barrels and half in stainless steel tanks, aging for 7 months on the fine lees in the same containers before the final blending. Every single bottle reflects the dedication of the winemakers who manage the estate with energy and foresight, offering consumers an authentic and memorable experience with every taste.
