Schloss Englar Pinot Noir Alto Adige DOC 2022
Dynamic freshness and seamless drinkability redefine the boundaries of classic Pinot Noir in this vintage interpretation by Schloss Englar. Cultivated on the sun-kissed slopes of Appiano Monte, this red wine is crafted for lovers of frank, clean, and immediate aromas, without compromising the winery's signature elegance. Through meticulous care of the younger vine plots, the estate has successfully translated the nobility of this international grape variety into a contemporary, snappy, and accessible liquid language. A proud and recognizable character that prioritizes the fragrance of Alpine fruit, offering a modern and refined alternative far from the heavy extractions of the past.
Why the Winemaker Recommends Schloss Englar Pinot Noir
This specific label is warmly recommended by the winemaker as it showcases the most fruit-forward, slender, and juicy side of Pinot Noir. The vinification, while following traditional methods with fermentation in open oak vats and indigenous yeasts, is geared toward preserving the extraordinary crispness of the younger clones. The controlled use of older oak tonneaux allows the wine to breathe and mature into a wonderful palate harmony, keeping the notes of small red berries intact while eliminating any aggressive phenolic fractions. The final result is a crisp, highly expressive sip free from sharp alcoholic heat.
Characteristics of the High-Altitude Red Wine
This refined monovarietal expresses the very quintessence of mountain viticulture in the glass, elevating varietal traits to a superior level of definition. The wine's architecture is built upon a selection of Pinot Noir clones ranging from 5 to 10 years old trained in the Guyot system, located at an ideal altitude between 500 and 550 meters above sea level. On this southwest-facing slope, the plants sink their roots into a heavy clay soil rich in limestone gravel. Every element works in harmony to define a clear sensory profile of unquestionable quality consistency, perfect for exploring through tasting notes analysis.
Organoleptic Profile
- Alcohol and Structure: 13.50% Vol.

The Terroir and the Warm 2022 Vintage of Schloss Englar
Managing a thermally intense season like 2022 required all the experience and absolute technical precision that bind the history of great Italian wines to the passion of local families. To preserve the balance and typical elegance of Pinot Noir in a warm vintage, production came to life from a careful manual harvest at the beginning of September. Fermentation was activated spontaneously by indigenous yeasts in open oak vats, followed by a three-week maceration on the skins with malolactic fermentation and 12 months of aging in premium oak tonneaux on the fine lees. Every single bottle reflects the dedication of the winemakers who manage the estate with energy and foresight, offering consumers an authentic and memorable experience with every taste.
