Giacosa Fratelli
Giacosa Fratelli
“Believe to see”. The story started by four 19th century brothers who moved to Costigliole d'Asti in Neive in the Langhe to work as sharecroppers. United in intent but with a different destiny.
It happened to Giuseppe Giacosa, one of the four, who in 1895 believed in what was his dream, to have a winery in the hills of the Langhe in Borgonuovo di Neive. The dream was entrusted to fate and the blindfolded goddess smiled at him with a win that allowed him to purchase a winery in the area.
In the early 1900s, his son Leone Giacosa completed the work begun by his father Giuseppe and soon became a commercial and wine-making company.
Years of hard work, new generations took over from Leone. By refining the work in the cellar more and more, looking at the wine trade that developed reaching the bottles. From 1991 to 2003 he looked at the increase of his own vineyards in the areas of origin of the wines of the Langhe. In localities: Bussia and San Pietro in Monforte d’Alba, those of Vigna Mandorlo in Castiglione Falletto up to the vineyards in Neive. A current management of 50 hectares of vineyards that follows a protocol of good agricultural practice. Maximizing the protection of the environment in which they are located at 360 degrees.
The transformation of the grapes is respectful of traditional practices by now rooted. It supports the new innovative technologies that allow the production of a differentiated range of wines. It fulfills the canons of taste from more modern and technological to traditional ones. The answer soon arrived in the bottles produced by the Maison Fratelli Giacosa. Labels with over a hundred years of lived history, and always traceable to the land of origin. Sober, modern and elegant restyling as for some reds of Barolo Bussia in Monforte d’Alba, Barolo Scarrone Vigna Mandorlo, Barbera d’Alba Bussia, Barbaresco Basarin Vigna Gianmatè; and for the unmistakable whites such as Roero Arneis, Gavi and Langhe Chardonnay Rorea.
