Description

Why the winemaker recommends Fratelli Giacosa Basarin Barbaresco DOCG 2019

The wines produced by Maurizio & Paolo Giacosa are enologically powerful while always remaining typical and balanced. These are determining characteristics that were accentuated when Maurizio and Paolo planted well-exposed vineyards in Basarin, dedicating themselves to the long production process. An important handover, from wine merchants to wine producers. The result is a great success for their Barbaresco aged in large barrels. A further aspect is the very accessible price.

Characteristics of the Basarin wine by the Giacosa Brothers

The color is bright ruby red. The nose is of red fruit, cherry and blueberry first and foremost, with a nice side of hints of leather, cocoa and a hint of balsamic herbs. The sip is rather fresh, with a very present fruit and a rather pleasant finish with tones of cocoa and spices. Aggressive but manageable tannins, medium persistence. Ultimately, a good starter Barbaresco, excellent for a full-bodied meal.
