Why the winemaker recommends Nicosia Etna Rosso DOC Monte San Nicolò
The Etna Rosso DOC Monte San Nicolò wine with a light, tasty body, obtained from local Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes. Cultivated on an ancient volcanic cone at around 700 m above sea level. on the South Eastern side. This native variety of Nerello from Sicily produces a rather light red. 50% refines in steel, the remainder refines for six months in barrique and another 6 months in large barrels.
Characteristics of Monte San Nicolò di Nicosia red wine Sicily
Nerello Mascalese 80% and Nerello Cappuccio 20% Bright ruby-garnet glass. Nose of red fruits, aromatic herbs, mineral notes and a hint of liquorice. Fresh, tasty mouthfeel, with good structure, intensity and persistence. Clean and pleasant finish.
Recommended pairings for this Etna Rosso DOC wine
Excellent to accompany spicy foods; eggplant caponata; trofie and rocket with Vittoria tomato sauce; Sfriullo with sausage and hanging tomatoes from Pachino.
Uncork and serve at a temperature of 16°-18°C in a Tulipano glass.
