The 2020 vintage was characterized by an unusually mild and dry winter. Thanks to the deep rooting of the old vines and the Ciavolich winery's typical training system—which ensures constant shade for the grapes—the vines survived a hot, rain-sparse summer without experiencing water stress. A slightly early harvest allowed us to preserve the grapes' perfect phenolic composition and vibrant acidity, resulting in a Montepulciano of extraordinary concentration and balance.

Vinification in concrete and tasting notes

True to tradition, this wine is not made from wood: fermentation and subsequent aging take place exclusively in concrete tanks for one year, followed by a long period of bottle aging. The richness of the must required short, delicate macerations to preserve the elegance of the final product.

• Color: Impenetrable ruby ​​red with subtle and fascinating garnet reflections.
• Nose: Intense aromas of black cherry, undergrowth, and resin, which fade into complex hints of red fruit in alcohol, licorice, tobacco, and dark minerals.
• Palate: Powerful, with great character yet perfectly balanced. The pronounced minerality translates into a persistent and elegantly refined flavor, with a finish reminiscent of jam and licorice. Alcohol content: 14% vol.
