Why the winemaker recommends Grosjean Prëmetta Valle d'Aosta DOC 2020
Stuff for hopeless wine nerds! The vine known as Prëmetta (or Prié Rouge) is a very rare vine grown only in a few plots of the Aosta Valley. From this vine we obtain wines with a straw red, almost rosé color. In this case we obtained a coral shade with violet reflections. On the nose floral and spicy hints and intense note of dog rose. In the mouth it has a pleasant and delicate fruity touch and a vibrant acidity. If little-known grape varieties are your unspeakable passion, this is right for you.
Characteristics of Grosjean Prëmetta rosé wine
Dauphin Grosjean and his family have been producing sustainable wine since 1969, certified organic since 2011, organic in 15.7 hectares in Valle d'Aosta, Ollignan on the border of Quart, St Christophe. 25y/o Premetta grape variety, from the highest vineyards of the domaine 800m. Early harvest at the end of September, fermented with native yeasts in steel tanks. Lightly filtered wine Press on a slightly intense light pink shade. On the nose there are notes of curaçao orange, pomegranate, cranberry, dog rose followed by greener sensations of cerfolio and petrichor minerals. Intense, clean and fine aromas. When tasted it shows good freshness and light flavor. The glycerine contribution makes it soft, adjusting a balance that is not perfect for the light alcoholic sensation. A dry and appropriately tannic wine with good body and long persistence.
