The Balance of the Only Sicilian DOCG: The Philosophy of Victorya 1607
The 1607 Victorya Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG 2024 by the Casa di Grazia winery represents a captivating, aristocratic, and sharply regional interpretation of winemaking in southern Sicily. This prestigious organic blend originates in the coastal territories of Gela from the successful equal marriage between two signature native grape varieties: the structure of Nero d'Avola and the vibrant fragrance of Frappato. Conceived to deliver a refined profile with an elegant stance, this still red wine fascinates with its dual nature, combining a velvety tannic texture with an outstanding fluidity that leaves a distinct, perfumed trail with every single pour.
Agronomic Notes: Sandy Soils and Protective Vinification Protocol
The vineyards delve their roots into sandy soils characterized by a strong presence of limestone, salt, and stones—a unique pedoclimatic habitat caressed by sea breezes from the Mediterranean. The intense sun and constant coastal wind encourage optimal phenolic ripeness of the clusters, concentrating extracts without compromising the fresh acidic backbone. The parcelized manual harvest selects the grapes at their perfect point of balance. Under the expert guidance of winemaker Tonino Guzzo, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using selected yeasts, with a measured skin contact designed to extract polished tannins. Subsequent aging on the fine lees in steel protects the freshness and purity of the primary aromatic precursors, avoiding any oak contact to maintain an agile profile and an alcohol content of 13.00% Vol.
Sensory Profile and Organoleptic Assessment
The interaction between the marine fossil deposits of the Gela coast and vinification conducted exclusively in stainless steel containers imparts a sharp organoleptic precision and outstanding fluidity to this Cerasuolo di Vittoria.
- Blend and Classification: 50% Nero d'Avola, 50% Frappato. Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG by Organic Farming.
- Analytical Data (2024 Vintage): Alcohol Content: 13.50% Vol.
- Visual Assessment: Intense ruby red color enriched with vivid, youthful violet highlights, characterized by good viscosity and excellent chromatic transparency consistent with the varietal style.

- Palate Characteristics: The tasting reveals a dry, straight profile of extraordinary gastronomic smoothness. The progression displays a harmonious full body supported by a vibrant acidic backbone that accentuates freshness and melts perfectly into the terroir's sapidity. The tannic texture is fine, velvety, and well-integrated into the mass, guiding development toward a long, persistent, and impeccably clean finish.
Service Guidelines and Gastronomic Pairings
The structural fluidity, balanced tannins, and aromatic richness of this DOCG red wine determine remarkable service versatility alongside elaborate Mediterranean land and seafood menus.
- Stable Pairings: It pairs magnificently alongside traditional first courses based on handmade pasta, rich timballos, grilled vegetables, and baked pork. Thanks to its briny component, it breaks classic rules, proving to be an excellent partner for premium fish such as grilled swordfish served with seared radicchio, warm crusty bread topped with Pachino tomatoes, sheep's milk cheeses, and aged charcuterie.
- Serving Method: To promote the development of the fragrant fruity profile and ensure proper integration of the structural components, opening the bottle in advance is recommended, using a wide Ballon glass at a serving temperature of 16 - 18°C.
