Why the winemaker recommends Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva
Very good Cabernet Riserva from Castell Sallegg. Mainly Cassis, very well integrated tannins, so you can enjoy it even in younger years. It can compete with, for example, the new world CS from South Africa. Very good value for money.
Sensory Profile
The Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva needs some time to breathe, drinks very well now. Structured, balanced, easy to drink. Well made Cabermet, excellent fruit ripeness, not overcooked, fruit forward with added complexity and supporting components. Use of oak, some clove, toast, chocolate, cedar, as well as cassis, plum, leather and pepper. Medium, soft and very well integrated tannins. Juicy soft on the palate with a medium finish.
Recommended Pairings and Serving Guidelines
Perfect with roasts and game. An excellent red wine to enjoy with tortellini with ragù.
Uncork and decant the Riserva Cabernet Sauvignon before serving at a temperature of 16 and 18°C in a Ballon glass.
Cellar
Each wine from Castel Sallegg tells a story of noble tradition, a bond with the territory and artisanal care. From the historic vineyards on the shores of Lake Caldaro come labels that combine sustainability, elegance and the centuries-old legacy of the Counts von Kuenburg family. A unique experience, rooted in the past and projected into the future.
