Paolo Conterno
The aspiration to perfection is the mission of the Conterno Paolo family, born in 1886, today Giorgio Conterno is the fourth generation of viticultural farmers and lovers of the concept "the perfect Barolo". The continuous questioning of all agricultural operations: pre and post plant; oenological: with the research and the alternation of vinification, control and refinement methods to reach the sole objective "Perfection in Barolo".
Cultivating the Earth is talking to it, it comes when you are born from the Earth, you grow up and you are raised in the Earth, you become one, only then can you hear the jolt, the requests and the advice that will bring not only fruits but great fruits. This is what the Conterno Family has always wanted to do, to love the Earth as children to be able to talk to it.
We are in the heart of the Langhe, in Monforte d'Alba in the province of Cuneo in the Cru Ginestra area, 10 hectares of land on a high hill at 350 meters above sea level, planted with Nebbiolo from Barolo, Barbera and Dolcetto, to a lesser extent supported by Arneis and Chardonnay. The geographical position and the pedoclimatic adaptation have been and will be for the future, the essential conditions to produce a great Nebbiolo grape. Not enough condition to reach the goal if you are not a Barolo craftsman.
After the manual harvest of the grapes in the sloping vineyards, vinification becomes less stressful but at the same time important. A succession of modern winemaking techniques are combined with the operations and experiences gained over the years, all to give life to 80,000 new bottles that Maison Paolo Conterno annually makes available on the international market to satisfy the growing demand for high quality wine.
The aspiration to perfection takes shape in bottles with labels of absolute qualitative level, starting from the Barolo wines of the Paolo Conterno "Ginestra" and "Riva del Bric", the Nebbiolo, the Barbera d'Alba and the Dolcetto up to the white Arneis and Chardonnay.
