In Italy, Barbera is known as the champagne of the poor or the working class. This wine overwhelms its modest origins into a wine that is now revered for delivering far beyond the price it suggests. This label by Paolo Conterno is an excellent example with big red fruit aromas leaping off the palate and with its acidity/tannin balance it pairs easily with Sunday lunch.
Characteristics of the Barbera D'Asti wine:
Robusta Barbera D'Asti Bricco DOCG wears ruby. Aromas of dried cranberries, ripe strawberries, leather, wet earth, light chocolate, baking spice and light licorice. Excellent balance between fruit, acidity and tannins. The body is bolder than most Barberas. The palate is dry. This Barbera is fresh and goes well with many courses.

The freshness of Barbera D'Asti Bricco DOCG dictated by the flavor and goes well with a carpaccio with oranges and artichokes, lamb chops, cheeses, with pizza, fresh and/or dried fruit of all kinds.
