Why I suggest Pignolo Riserva Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2010
Pignolo Riserva Friuli, a very long-lived wine 20 - 25 years and 14.5% Vol. Grape saved in extremis, it all derives from 2 plants found. Beautiful purplish color rich in hints and spices. The Friulian wine tradition always attentive to research to rediscover the origins of ancient vines, cultivar such as the pignolo.
Sommelier:
Blackberries, black cherry liqueur, plum, raspberries, licorice, toasted on the nose. On the palate a fresh acidity, very firm tannins because they mature dry and grainy. Decent length, good concentration. Overall this wine is very horizontal, Initially explosive but without complexity and depth of flavor. The texture on the palate is very interesting but it can do more to justify the price.
Suggested pairings:
Pignolo Riserva Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2010 La Viarte Beef, Pasta, Lamb, excellent for game (deer, chamois); bruschetta and Parma ham, hard and aged cheese.
Uncork Pignolo Riserva Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2010 La Viarte and decant 1 hour before serving at 18 ° C. in large Ballon glasses.
