Why the winemaker recommends Rénier Cuvée
A stormy wine from the evening... New label, new cuvée completely new in the Castel Sallegg line. Lagrein/Merlot. Can it be good? Dark red in the glass; lilac nose. Initially acidic on the palate, dry. Also leather, wood. More relaxed under air, could also be a Bordeaux from the Médoc. Only time will tell whether it can reach 4*. It has the chance! At the moment the grapes are not yet harmonized accordingly.
Sensory Profile
Lagrein and Merlot form a surprising, fantastic, harmonious cuvée. Ruby red in the glass, with strawberries, black cherries, currants, blueberries, leather, juicy fruit, little acid. I would like to try something older again.
Recommended Pairings and Serving Guidelines
An excellent red from the Dolomites, it pairs wonderfully with rather acidic dishes, tomato paste, meat: baked rabbit, cheese and shrimp risotto.
Uncork and serve at a temperature of 14 and 16°C in a Tulipano glass.
Cellar
Each wine from Castel Sallegg tells a story of noble tradition, a bond with the territory and artisanal care. From the historic vineyards on the shores of Lake Caldaro come labels that combine sustainability, elegance and the centuries-old legacy of the Counts von Kuenburg family. A unique experience, rooted in the past and projected into the future.
