Why I Recommend Barbera d'Asti Riserva
Great elegance in the glass. It should be allowed to breathe, although, for a 2021 vintage, it's easy to enjoy. It's immediately pleasant and exhilarating. On the nose, it gradually evolves into a fine, constantly evolving aromatic bouquet. On the palate, it's pleasant and harmonious. The bottle recommends drinking within 8-10 years, but this Riserva has the potential to defy time: even after 16 years, it will shine with vivid freshness, offering exceptional harmony. A wonderful drink, definitely worth trying!
Sommelier's Information
Garnet color, very intense and fine aromas of ripe red fruit, vanilla, licorice, tobacco, and an almost mentholated balsamic. Warm and velvety on the palate, with good freshness, smooth tannins, and a pleasant savory finish. Consistent both visually and in terms of flavor, a truly beautiful Barbera.
Recommended Pairings
Excellent Barbera Riserva with traditional Piedmontese dishes. Game, donkey stew, vegetable pasta dishes with lamb, cabbage stew and pig's trotters, and braciole (better if spicy) pair well with Neapolitan casatiello.
Uncork La Court Barbera d'Asti Nizza Riserva DOCG 2021 Michele Chiarlo and decant an hour before serving at 16-18°C in a large balloon glass.
Winery Chiarlo is among the historic founders of the Consorzio Grandi Vini, founders of the Accademia del Barolo, and has been selected to be part of the Grandi Marchi Institute of Quality Italian Wine.
