Why the winemaker recommends Elvio Cogno Bricco Pernice Ravera Barolo DOCG 2018
A beautifully crafted Barolo from a particularly favorable vintage. Like all 2016s, it is currently closed and needs to be reviewed over time. But the olfactory spectrum and the lively tannin with a finish of great presence and elegance give great hopes for the future of this bottle
Characteristics of Elvio Cogno Bricco Pernice wine
Barolo Bricco Pernice Ravera among the best versions ever. Large Slavonian oak barrel for 30 months. Austere and dense at the start, it widens and settles on notes of superb purity and expression, with hints of liquorice and nutmeg, humus, dried leaves, dried herbs and flowers, a pinch of tar, then corn, macerated strawberry and jams. The same richness and abundance on the palate; the entry is soft and proportionate, with juicy development and smooth tannins. Excellent.
Recommended pairings for this Barolo DOCG 2018 Piemonte red wine
Barolo Bricco Pernice excellent accompaniment to pheasant with porcini mushrooms; to perfection on duck foie gras and sublime sweetbreads.
Uncork and decant two hours before serving the Barolo Bricco Pernice at a temperature of 18 - 20°C in a large Ballon glass.
